Hawko is a UK service that helps small businesses plan and write social media posts. This page explains what information we collect, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). If you have any questions, email hello@hawko.co.uk.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and a securely hashed password (or your Google sign-in, if you use it).
- Business details you enter: business name, what you do, location, customers, tone of voice, website and any notes about your month.
- Posts: the posts we write for you and any edits you make.
- Billing: if you subscribe, our payment provider Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your card number. We keep your subscription status.
- Usage: how many posts your account has written, so we can apply the free and fair-use limits.
Why we use it
To provide the service you signed up for (our lawful basis is performing our contract with you), to take payment, to keep the service secure, and to contact you about your account. We don't sell your information and we don't use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We use trusted providers to run Hawko. They only process your information on our instructions:
- Supabase: database and sign-in.
- Anthropic: the AI that writes your posts. Your business details and notes are sent to it to write each plan. Under its commercial terms it may not use them to train its models.
- Stripe: payments.
- Vercel: website hosting.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and posts until you delete them or ask us to close your account. We keep billing records for as long as UK tax law requires (normally six years).
Cookies and storage
We only store what's needed to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your information, or object to how we use it. Email hello@hawko.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
